No one knows how long the pause was between 17 and 18. Perhaps it was a decent enough time that gave Abraham and Sarah both cause to think that the son promised to them was not imminent. Still in the heat of the summer, God came and delivered. He was customarily kind to the three visitors who apparently were no threat to him and he had a meal prepared for them. He gave them water to wash their feet and food for energy to be on their way. God then delivered the news that Sarah, this time next year, would be a mother of a son. While skeptical, she lied about her emotions to the Lord. What was special about this was that God said he would come back to deliver the promise. The visitor was special given his ability to "see and hear" Sarah.and deliver beyond her childbearing abilities.
God's timing is never, ever ours. It is true that His ways and thoughts are higher than ours. I just stand in awe of Him.
Seeing Love Song tonight at a local church. The last time was nearly 40 years ago. Taking my camera and old stuff to get signed. Can't wait!
Praise for today: Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. Your righteousness is like that of mighty mountains, your justice like the great deep. Ps 36: 5,6
