Ez 44:17-31

There is a standard for holiness. That standard must be absolute and without waver, otherwise the standard means nothing. Currently, much of the nation is in uproar about the decline in the US credit rating being downgraded but that of course is subjective and could change again -either way. Still God's holiness and character is not based on a subjective standard that could vary or be scaled for relativity but absolute. Here in Ezekiel, God's priests (now the Levites' sons of Zadok) are now told to wear linen clothes throughout, and maintain shorter but trimmed hair and the steps of "purity" are spelled out. The key to them is their relationship to God as their sole inheritance - they will possess no land, eat the grain, sin and guilt offerings and "everything devoted to the Lord will belong to them". Even how and who they should marry was determined so that they may sustain and thrive.

Overall a decent weekend. Saw "Cowboys and Aliens" with the wife and enjoyed it. Got my Sat morning walk in the park in and did laundry and basically relaxed. Besides my periodic misplacing and finding of my glasses, it was pretty relaxing. Able to sleep without pills albeit still not as early as I would have liked.

Praise for the day: That He is my True North!
