The world and mankind starts anew. The three sons of Noah are now the "Adams" of this section of Genesis. Perhaps the point of interest is how fast this all has occurred and how scattered they have become - truly to start nations.Families and tribes became nations and scattered all over. Japheth's sons took over the area around the Meditterean and north towards Europe. Ham's family moved south and into North Africa. His descendants landed in Canaan but they seemed to have a greater influence in the shaping of the Bible and particularly in places like Sodom and Gommorah. Shem’s family comes last in this chapter, although his name comes first in verse 1. We do not know why that is so. Perhaps it is because the Book of Genesis continues with the story of Shem’s descendants. Many of Shem’s descendants moved east. But this list also contains the names of places that are elsewhere. What also is amazing is that language and cultures grew out of this and of course - diversity.
These are real people who started real nations and cultures and languages. Amazing!
Spoke to an old friend (MKM) yesterday who called me out of the blue. Great catching up with him and setting his school up with some places and activities when they come to NYC next month. Hoping to see him in Nov in his area.
Praise for today: He is the Creator of all and is in contol!
